The Ceremony

Our Wedding ceremony will be held at Castell Coch near Cardiff, on Saturday 14th December 2013. The Ceremony start at 12:30, guests are invited to arrive at 12:00. The ceremony will take place in the drawing room, it is very pretty but very small and space is limited, so if you have been invited to the ceremony but can not make it please let us know as soon as possible. If you have not been invited to the ceremony please don’t be too upset, we will see you at the amazing Farmers Barn where we’ll have some fantastic food and a great party and most importantly alcohol.

Update 4th December
Forgot to mention that there is no confetti permitted at the Castell, it is in their terms of contract. Tt says “No confetti or rice of any kind should be thrown either inside or outside the monument.’

The Breakfast

So by now we will have all the formalities out of the way and will be ready to let our hair down. The wedding breakfast (that just means the food – it’s confused me for years*) is to be held at Rose Dew Farm, in coastal town of Llantwit Major. The farm is a ten minute walk from the Bristol Channel, which is cool but remember it’s December so please wrap up warm as it’s going to be chilly.

Pre dinner drinks will be served on arrival at the barn from 14:00, I will definitely be turning up for these.

*This has never confused Louise, as she often has breakfast a quarter past three in the afternoon

The Party

The Wedding party will be held at Rose Dew Farm after the food. Evening folks can arrive anytime from 7pm. By now it will be dark outside but hopefully cosy in the barn, there will be drinks and food to nibble on to keep you stocked up for the evening, live music and of course a bar should you fancy a couple of sneaky drinks. There will be plenty of choice alcoholic and non- alcoholic alike. It will be a cash bar though so please be prepared. There is a a cash point in Llantwit Major should you need it.

There is also accommodation on site if you fancy a short walk to your bed instead of the drive home. (More info in accommodation page)

So, that’s everything – food, drink, music and somewhere to sleep, all you have to do is turn up!

Accommodation

If you fancy staying after the party or even the night before to make a weekend of it, there is accommodation at the venue. There is a mixture of cottages and wooden lodges that should accommodate a fair few people.
When you R.S.V.P please state whether you would like to stay and how many nights you would like to stay for and we can then let the owner know how many spaces to reserve for us and who for.
The cost for staying over is between £35 and £37-50 per night, per person depending on whether you are in a cottage or a lodge. All accommodation is self catering, with it’s own living space and kitchen. It’s very nice so don’t worry it’s not the back and beyond with a hole in the ground for a loo. It’s all very well equipped and comfortable.
There is also several B&B’s in Llantwit Major, if you fancy that instead. Or there is a Premier Inn not far up the road as well. Plenty of choice.

Update – 21/09/2013

Thank you to all of those who have got back to us so far, we are amazed at how many of you want to stay. As a result of this the accommodation at the venue is filling up fast, there are very few spaces left so please get back to us asap.

Transport

We would like to try and help make it a bit easier for you if possible, so there are a few options. Firstly, people coming to the ceremony, most of you will be at Rose Dew the morning of the wedding so we thought that it would make sense to get you from A – B. There will be transport of some kind that will take people from Rose Dew Farm to Castell Coch for the ceremony and back again. We haven’t finalised this yet as we don’t know final numbers so it is important that you let us know if you will be at the venue the morning of the wedding either because you have stayed the night before or you just want to drop your stuff off if you are planning to stay Saturday night.

You can of course make your own way to Castell Coch and meet everyone there but the transport will need to be confirmed soon, so if ya names not down you won’t be on it.

Another transport option is to arrange for people to be picked up coming from Cardiff to the barn for the evening do. Again, will need to know numbers, we may not need to arrange the evening transport if people are happy to drive or sort themselves out, so we just need to know your thoughts on this.

Directions – all postcodes are listed on the site but there are is also some info and some maps to download at the foot of the website.

Trains – if you are travelling by train there is a train station in Llantwit Major which is a couple minutes drive away from Farmers Barns.

Update on transport – 4th December

Morning:
For those going to the ceremony there wil be a mini bus departing from Rose Dew Farm to take guests that have stayed the Friday night to the Castell the next morning. As guests are required to be at the Castell by 12.00, 30 mins before the ceremony, the mini bus will be arriving at Rose Dew at 11.00am to come and get you all. It will also be bringing you back to Rose Dew after the ceremony at 1.30pm. So we won’t get long at the Castell, so make the most of it and take lots of pics!

Evening:
Transport for the people who needed transport to get to the evening do has been arranged. (You know who you are!) Exact details to be confirmed but as it stands collection is at 6.45pm at Chapter Arts Centre. For the way home the mini bus is currently planned to leave Rose Dew Farm at midnight and drop you back at Chapter.

On the day. . .

On the day of the wedding we will be having some extra help. It’s a been a crazy year and we decided that we wanted someone else to be the responsible one for the day so we can enjoy ourselves.
So, there will be one lovely lady called Samantha (she will be the one with the pink clipboard!) who is going to be there on the day to be there to help our guests, so if you get lost, are running late, are ill and can’t make it – whatever it may be, you can contact her and she will be on hand.

She will be there with us all for most of the day so any little thing you might need help with just ask.
She has requested that it is easier for her to respond to a text message than take a call at the beginning of the day but she will get back to you.

Her mobile number is: 07783 141 202

Friday night

For those of you staying Friday night, a few of us will be going down the pub for food. It has been suggested to me by several of you so we have hatched a plan.

It is of course totally optional, we have provisionally booked some tables in the Old White Hart pub for 7pm. If you want to come along at 7pm or any other time over the course of the evening, then let us know and I can add to the booking. We do need to let them know an estimate of numbers and he has requested a deposit of £5 per head as it is near Christmas.
